Context and agenda
Due to the current pandemic context, the annual LEDS LAC Regional Workshop that takes place every year will be held virtually. This is a joint regional event that brings together the efforts of important initiatives, programs and organizations in the Latin American and Caribbean region that work in promoting climate action and sustainable development in the countries of the region. Organizers for this event are organizations part of LEDS LAC executive board: UNDP, IDB, EUROCLIMA + and LEDS LAC.
This joint event has been called "Climate action in times of crisis: “Promoting sustainable recovery after COVID-19 in Latin America and the Caribbean” and seeks to be a space for meeting, collaboration and learning in three main thematic areas:
- Design of long-term strategies.
- Update and raising ambition of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and
- A sectoral component particularly related for transport and sustainable mobility.
UNDP will have a leadership role on component of "Raising NDCs ambition", on which a series of webinars will be organized over the next 3 months. These webinars we will be a continuation of the “Climate Promise in a Nutshell” webinar series but with a wider scope and open audience.
