Regional NDC Dialogue for Latin America and Caribbean

Overview

This Regional Dialogue on (I)NDCs, held in San Jose, Costa Rica, was organised by UNDP, the UNFCCC Secretariat, the International Partnership for Mitigation & MRV, and the Partnership for Market Readiness (World Bank Group). The Dialogue brought together government representatives from the Latin America & Caribbean region, developed country representatives, and international organizations/experts involved in the (I)NDC process.

The event was attended by over 90 participants, including representatives from 26 countries from the region, as well as other countries and organizations.
 

Objectives

• Take stock of submitted (I)NDCs from the region, related provisions in the Paris Agreement, and implications for national implementation.
  
• Discuss next steps in preparing for NDC implementation at the national level, including possible guidance and tools.
  
• Provide a forum for exchanging country experiences and perspectives on planning for NDC implementation, including envisioned challenges & support.
  
• Discuss key technical and institutional issues related to NDC implementation in plenary sessions and through smaller breakout sessions.
