This research project assesses possibilities for enhancing the role of SD-benefits in the context of activities supported by future market mechanisms under the UNFCCC. It can contribute to the public debate, and may also assist parties and observers to engage with the ongoing negotiation process regarding the Paris market mechanisms. The project is divided into 3 parts:Part1 identifies the prospects for sustainable development in the debate on market mechanisms, while Part 2 focuses on barriers for the integration of SD-benefits and possible solutions. Furthermore, the project provides recommendations and guidance for policymakers in prospective host countries (in part 3).
