The Africa Climate Week “Climate Action in Africa: A Race We Can Win” will take place March 18-22, 2019 in Accra, Ghana and will include the NDC Dialogues and the Ghana NDC Investment Forum. The NDC Dialogues focus on the outcome of COP24, including the Paris Work Programme, and support for governments and non-Party stakeholders to shift gears toward implementing ambitious climate action for a low-emission and climate-resilient future.
This Forum, which takes place as part of the Africa Climate Week, aims to catalyse Ghanian private sector investment, and financial as well as substantive support from all relevant stakeholders to help Ghana implement its climate committments. The Investment Forum will showcase proven climate solutions to attract private investment, present investment-ready climate NDC projects and introduce entry points for private sector to engage in NDC actions.
Peru committed to a 30% reduction in its emissions below business as usual by 2030. Trough a series of multi-sectoral working sessions, Peru has identified a roadmap and related climate actions to meet its target. The country's updated NDC includes 96 measures for adaptation in 5 priority areas, and 62 other measures for mitigation in energy, transport, agriculture, land use and forestry, industrial processes and solid waste management.
While countries across the African continent are working fiercely to address climate change, access to climate finance at scale remains one of the biggest challenges. This blog identifies the key barriers at the same time explores options on how countries can overcome hurdles to climate finance.
